Time is flying by and somehow, we have already made it through February. So, I think it’s about time that we discuss the games to be looking out for this year:
Top 10 Games of 2017
Of course, these aren’t the only games to be released this year so remember to keep your eyes peeled for more info.
Horizon Zero Dawn
“Earth is ours no more.”
“In an era where Machines roam the land and mankind is no longer the dominant species, a young hunter named Aloy embarks on a journey to discover her destiny.”
Humans have been long wiped out and all that remains is the reminder of the lost civilization as well as small hunter tribes left to fend for themselves.
The world you are free to explore has been beautifully designed as is well complemented by the machinery that you interact with.
The game has super enhanced detail for all the PS4 Pros owner out there to enjoy all the wonders of this world.
Why is this game so special?
It is one of few games to feature a female protagonist, yay! Not only that but the developers have also decided to dress her up in decent clothes unlike a lot of games.
Don’t get me wrong, I have no issue with male leads in games, there’s just an awful lot of them. It’s warming to see that women can experience escapism a little more easily. Having a female protagonist means women have a character they may find easier to relate to.
And did I forget to mention that she looks bad ass?!
Halo Wars 2
Similar to its predecessor, Halo Wars 2 sees you make strategic moves to win waging wars against a “Terrifying new enemy”.
In the second edition, the game includes a new mode “Blitz: Instant Command” that is a mix between card and video games. Your deck of cards and strategic skills decides the outcome of the war.
The main attraction to this game is seeing our much loved characteristics of the Halo Series continue into a new genre of game. No longer can we only experience the foreign planets as a first person shooter but can also the control from a birds eye view.
And it also comes with a brand spanking new story to enjoy!
Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Wildlands
A fine addition to Tom Clancy’s Collection, Ghost Recon Wildlands will have you experience the beauties of South America.
You find yourself centered in Bolivia, a few years from now where a big drug cartel has the intentions of becoming a major underworld power. You’re part of the US Special Forces Team, Ghosts and have been sent the task to infiltrate the cartel to destroy their relationship with the corrupt government.
This game offers a huge open map for you to explore with a number of different eco-systems including the rainforest, desert, city, and mountains. You have a wide array of vehicles at your service.
And you play the game to your playing style. Not very good at stealth? Fine, wreak havoc at your own pace.
This game is for the ones with a place in their hearts for adorable characters with adorable abilities.
You play as the character duo Yooka and Laylee who together, have been set the task to take down Capital B, a corporate super power converting the world’s books into pure profit.
Enjoy a number of challenging puzzles to discover the Pagies: the key to unlock vast new worlds. This game offers the chance to enjoy co-op campaign as each player takes on the role of the Yooka or Laylee.
A number of unique multiplayer modes are also included! Play arcade games, mine cart challenges, quiz shows and more.
The colourful sceneries and quirky personalities of the protagonists will make you full enough with this game as we have!
Red Dead Redemption II
Next in our Top 10 Games of 2017 List is Red Dead Redemption II.
Following the success of the first game, we finally get to experience the sequel!
Players continue to follow the story of America’s Vicious Cowboys and their unbelievable tales. The game will also including a brand-spanking new online multiplayer, result!
Rockstar Games, developers of the famous Grand Theft Auto Series, have announced the release of Red Dead Redemption II for fall 2017 so still quite a wait to go!
However, from all the fun we had with the first game, we simply can’t wait!
Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy
One of the most anticipated game of the year, we finally get to experience the greatest game from many of our youths: Crash Bandicoot!
The games have been remastered for the latest consoles so we can enjoy the smooth graphics and frame rates we never recieved with the PS1.
Sounds and speech from the original cast have been recorded and including in the up and coming game.
“Face off once again with the evil Dr Neo Cortex in the first adventure and foil his nefarious plans to build an army of genetically-engineered minions, ice-skate and jetpack your way through bigger, free-roaming levels in the sequel before bouncing your way through time and space in the series world-hopping finale, Warped.”
Super Mario Odyssey
Another 3D platformer to feature our favourite Italian Plumber, Mario is returning to our much loved Nintendo Consoles in his new edition : Odyssey. This is the first Sandbox Mario to hit our screens since Super Mario Sunshine was released on the Nintendo 64.
However, this time we will be able to experience Mario in a completely new way with the Nintendo Switch: the new entertainment system for at home or on the go!
Explore a variety of worlds however you want to! Meet new characters, good and evil and real live the delights of Mario’s World. Experience the details of Mario that you have never experienced before.
The first thing to strike about the updated design was that Mario finally had well defined hair.
I mean it isn’t just a brown blob, he has actual strands of hair. It reminds you that Mario is actually supposed to represent a human being! Hard to imagine, I know.
And the number of ways that Mario can overcome obstacles has dramatically increased; no longer does out protagonist have to rely on piggy backs from Yoshi! New controls featuring his well-worn hat have emerged in this game – another feature to be looking forward to.
Night in the Woods
Night in the woods is due to offer a completely unique set of characters and storyline to the public this year and it’s gonna be awesome!
Mae, our protagonist is a college dropout returning to home to reunite with her friends. However, things have changed in her once delightful town and she has to figure out what. Interact with the unique characters around you to solve the puzzle.
Not to mention the humourous yet deep story waiting to unfold.
The quirky animations of the characters and scenery will throw you off the underlying topic that defines this game…
The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild
Legend of Zelda has been a popular video game since the 1980s and is still loved and played by gamers old and young today.
That’s why Nintendo continue to release games featuring our favourite vigilante.
In Link’s new adventures, no longer will he be continuously troubled by lurking enemies …. well, there will still be enemies (of course) but much more freedom.
“Travel across fields, through forests and up mountain peaks as you discover what has become of the ruined kingdom of Hyrule in this stunning open-air adventure.”
It’s up to you to keep Link alive by hunting for beasts for food and gathering ingredients to bring you back to health.
Plus, you can enjoy playing as your favourite hero on Nintendo’s new console!
Mass Effect Andromeda
Bioware have finally scheduled to release another installment in the Mass Effect trilogy and this one is destined to be the best one yet.
This game is planned to be set in an all new Galaxy with all new characters and an all new story! We continue exploring the far depths of space with some heavy decisions to make.
Mass Effect Andromeda has the most beautiful visuals in all of its trailers. We can only pray that this is reflected in its game play.
If the gameplay is as realistic as the movies, we could see us playing the most realistic sci-fi game yet!
So there is our Top 10 Games of 2017!
