Half-Life 3 Confirmed? – What one developer had to say

Ever since the release of HAlf-Life 2 in 2004, fans have awaited the release of Half-Life 3 and now it seems that there is evidence that progress is actually being made.

With very little to say on what is a touchy subject, developers have always looked at Half-life 3 or Left 4 Dead 3 as a taboo of the gaming industry, however recently Counter Strike Co creator, Minh Le,  has indicated that there could be some hope for the franchise after all.

Of course with all things Valve, these reports need to be taken with a pinch of salt as it has been notoriously known that 3’s and Valve games do not go together well –  some have even commented on how finding the Loch-Ness Monster would be more believable, but this is not to say that it should be completely swept under the carpet.

Will we ever find out the truth?

It would come to no surprise if Valve actually did release a Half-Life 3 but instead under a different name to avoid the dreaded number 3 in a series. Mr Le has worked with Valve whilst creating Counter Strike and working on other projects therefore making him more than capable of knowing the truth of the matter. Here is what he had to say:

But yeah, I mean like I guess I could say that I did see something that looked kinda like in the Half-Life universe. And I mean it wouldn’t surprise anyone if I said they’re doing it, they’re working on it, yeah. So to go on a limb I’d say I did see some concept art for Half-Life 3

Somebody’s knocking on my door right now!, Hopefully that doesn’t get out. It seems like old news by now, I think everybody knows it’s being worked on”

However not everything Mihn Le had to say was about Half-life 3. He later went on to speak about one of the most successful Multiplay games that still continue to gain traction: Left 4 Dead.

“I saw it, it looks great. I was really excited when I saw that, I was like ‘wow, this looks great’. Because I really enjoyed Left 4 Dead, it was just one of those games that really just changed the industry. I think at the time there wasn’t many good co-op games, so yeah, this is a great co-op game”.
